Took Awhile

It
took me awhile to walk away and not come back.
Took awhile to look in your eyes and not feel warmth but pain.
To not tell you what happened.
To not lean on you.
To be in your arms and want out.
To feel no passion.
To feel no pleasure with you so near.
To feel no comfort in the fact that maybe
at this very moment your thinking of me.
Took awhile to learn what I needed to from the experience,
to stand on my own and not fall down so fast.
But to love you, that only took a second...
to let go will take forever
