Glowing Goddess

© By Courtney Horning ©

I have graced your presence
Goddess many times before and missed,
only to find myself fall time and time again.
I can only get back up when the sobbing stops
and the mist fades away, when you reach out and pick me up.
Your presence is warm and all inspiring.
Your hair is long and brown, sometimes black to me,
all curly and forever in a dizzying dress, and your eyes the color of night...
You are unlike me in many ways yet at the same time we are the same,
though both created and born of different worlds.
In autumn everything loses its brightness and changes come faster.
Your tall slender shadow follows me where ever I go
and when people gaze upon the moon,
there you are, giving hope.
In the winter things tend to hide but years gone
by remind all of us of the good and bad things.
Your partner stands out more and candles are lit to guide him.
In spring you smile more and things come out again.
In summer than...the pace slows down
and when ever I reach out you gaze at me and nod and reassure me.
Glimpses of the past, where I was a hundred or so years ago
and visions of the future are gifts you leave me.
Every moment I am in your care and everyday I depend on myself alone.
